GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the government will publish a proclamation within a week to replace 6,000 vacant police jobs, including five commando battalions.

During the review meeting, eight major choices on policing in the state were made. To improve enforcement in the state, Sarma implemented a number of reforms, including 1,000 new police quarters and infrastructure improvements for the Director General Police and Commissioner offices.

"By next week, an advertisement for 6,000 positions, including 5 commando battalions, will be issued. "Vacant SI positions will also be filled," Sarma tweeted.

"In a review meeting conducted at Assam police headquarters, we resolved to adopt many informal justice steps with the goal of strengthening our policing infrastructure, which is critical to the safety and progress of our community," Sarma added. "1,000 new police quarters, infrastructure upgrades for the DGP and Commissioner offices," he added. "By March 31, 2022, we want to have settled as many unsettled cases as possible," he remarked.

"To evaluate and settle all matters rejected without the need for a logical conclusion by Guwahati Police since 1992." Each month, the percentage of resolved cases should exceed the number of newly registered cases by Guwahati Police. "As many unsettled cases as possible must be settled by March 31, 2022," he added.

"Within 24 hours of filing the FIR, the investigation will begin," he added. "On the 8th and 9th of January, the second SP conference will be place in Duliajan," he continued.

"A new standard operating procedure (SOP) pertaining to accident reports, passports, and post-mortem reports will be announced soon. "Within 30 days, passport verification will be done," he remarked.
