CM Himanta Biswa Inaugurates Assam's 8th Medical College in Lakhimpur

"This medical college was a long-cherished dream of the people residing on the north bank of Brahmaputra," said Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanata Biswa Sarma inaugurated Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital which is now the state 8th Medical College.

Taking to his Twitter handle CM Sarma wrote, "This medical college was a long-cherished dream of the people residing on the north bank of Brahmaputra. I congratulate everyone who has been instrumental in giving shape to it and hope it will be immensely helpful in rendering quality and advanced healthcare services."

Notably, proposals for the establishment of new blood banks with Component Separation Units (CSU) facilities at Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital and to start the academic session of the institution with 100 MBBS students in North Lakhimpur College have been incorporated in the 2021 budget of the State.

Further, the new medical college welcomed the first batch of MBBS Students on February 14th 2022.
