GUWAHATI: Himanta Biswa Sarma accepted Arvind Kejriwal's invitation to visit the capital city hours after it was extended to him, but on one condition.

Sarma accepted Kejriwal's invitation after the latter extended it to him and promised to show him around Delhi as well as the "great work" that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration has accomplished. "I extend an invitation to Himanta Babu to visit my home in Delhi. And if he has the time, join me for tea. I'll show him the city and all the great things we've accomplished there” at a rally in Guwahati, Kejriwal stated.

Following the invitation from his Delhi counterpart, Sarma said, "I'll bring 50 people from Assam, largely journalists, for Kejriwal to show around Delhi. The only requirement is that they must be escorted to the locations we choose, not the ones he wants us to exhibit at."

"In Delhi, 60% of the population resides in hell. In contrast, 95% of Assam's population lives in heaven, " the top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) official alleged. He further criticised the AAP leader for his remarks made at his rally in Guwahati, referring to him as a "coward" whose "heroism" is limited to the assembly.

"He accused me of corruption in the Delhi Assembly, because he is protected by laws inside it. I had asked him to make the same claims outside the house or I would take him to court. But he lacked the courage to speak up in this situation. He uttered a lot of nonsense (anab-shanab)," Sarma continued.

If Kejriwal makes accusations of corruption against him outside of the assembly, the Assam chief minister has vowed to sue him for defamation. According to Sarma, "Kejriwal's heroism is contained within the assembly as he is shielded there by privilege."
