DIGBOI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the people of Digboi during his visit to Nazirating-Tamoli Tourism festival 2023 in its third day at Digboi in Tinsukia district on Tuesday afternoon. The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by a slew of BJP MLAs and MPs from the state, lauded the premier location of the annual tourism festival here along the banks of the Dibru river, which is bounded by rich flora flanked by beautiful undulating hilly terrain and landscapes around Nazirating and Tamoli villages.

"The Festival would surely promote tourism here in Nazirating-Tamoli tourist site attracting visitors and tourists at a larger scale in the days to come" the Chief Minister said, adding, "I congratulate Digboi MLA Suren Phukan for his relentless efforts in making the event possible."

Sarma during his speech also expressed satisfaction on the reduced accidental death rates among the picnic goers in the State in comparison to last year's figure.

Earlier on Monday, on the festival's second day, singing sensation Zubin Garg unveiled his own statue at the festival site, in addition to entertaining the visitors who had flocked to see the annual tourism festival.

The significance of the three-day event commencing from January 1 lies in the fact that it encourages local entrepreneur youths, women wings and surrounding villagers to showcase the rich Asamese cultural ethos beside promoting the place through exhibition stalls.

It goes without saying that the Nazirating-Tamoli areas along the bank of the Dibru River were previously a hotbed of anti-social and unethical behavior. The site was gradually developed with the visionary leader Phukan and the eager villagers so that it could easily attract the attention of tourists and visitors.
