CM Himanta lays foundation of projects worth Rs 900 crore in Morigaon

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of 12 flagship schemes that would be constructed at a cost of Rs 900 crore under the ‘Fortnight for development’ campaign programme at Baghara in Morigaon district.

MORIGAON: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday laid the foundation stone of 12 flagship schemes that would be constructed at a cost of Rs 900 crore under the 'Fortnight for development' campaign programme at Baghara in Morigaon district.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a 430-bedded medical college to be constructed at a cost of Rs 650 crore at Baghara. While laying the foundation stone, he said that the medical college would be ready before the assembly election of 2026. He assured that a cancer hospital, a BSc nursing college, a GNM school and a dental college would be set up inside the medical college campus before the 2026 assembly election. He said that the State Government would take steps to make the Morigaon district an educational hub.

The Chief Minister also said that the government had decided to complete the construction of the three river dykes for erosion protection at Murkata,Pavakati/Garubandha and Muwamari before the ensuing flood season.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly-constructed three-storey building of Morigaon BJP office at Sankardev Nagar. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, MLA of Raha constituency, Sasikanta Das.
