LAKHIMPUR: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit Lakhimpur district on December 16. During the visit, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction and implementation of around 14 developmental projects in the district. In addition, he will inaugurate 11 developmental projects of the district, the implementation of which have already completed, and will be dedicated for the service of mankind. This initiative has been taken under "Bikashor Babe Eta Poshek" (A Fortnight for the Development) programme of the Government of Assam, which commenced from December 5 to December 19.
On that day, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of Ghunasuti Bridge connecting Ghunasuti and North Lakhimpur town over River Subansiri, Inter-State Bus Terminus in North Lakhimpur, Downstream Protection Measures of the River Subansiri (Phase-IV), Lakhimpur Sports Complex at Saboti (Phase-II), Road from Tekeliphuta to Lotasur on the right embankment of the Brahmaputra under Dhakuakhana subdivision, 33/11 KV Electrical Sub-Stations at Sonari Chapori, Goroimari and Mornoi, Road on Ranganadi left bank embankment from Amtola to Ampora, construction of retirement at Teliapothar area on Subansiri right embankment along with canal-cutting and pro-siltation measure. Dhakuakhana Bisturam Doley Sports Complex (Mini Stadium), construction of Rangajan Road, Debera-Angarkhowa Road, modernization of Lakhimpur District Library, construction of workshop and laboratory of Women's Industrial Training Institute in North Lakhimpur, Road to Madhupur from zero point on the right embankment of River Dikrong and construction of residential building at Ward No. 13 of North Lakhimpur town.
On the same day, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Lakhimpur Planetarium, Lakhimpur By-pass along with several roads and bridges and dedicate them for public services. These entire projects have been implemented by investing a total fund amounting to Rs. 1031.61 crore. On that day, the Chief Minister will address a large public rally organized at Jonki-Panei Kshetra, Miri Jiyori College at Ghunasuti. Agriculture Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur, Atul Borah will also take part in the rally. Lakhimpur district administration has already completed the arrangements to conduct the programme.
