GUWAHATI: On January 7, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, asserted that Left-leaning historians have long sought to fabricate Indian history in an effort to portray Bharat as a community that has been defeated.

Sarma continued to criticise the Left Historians, saying that India's history needs to be revised to include the country's successes.

The Leftists have always attempted to misrepresent Indian history in order to portray Bharat as a 'Jati' that had been conquered. Speaking at the 28th state conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Sarma remarked, "Our kings and heroes who successfully resisted the Mughal onslaught were forgotten by the Left historians" (ABVP).

According to the Assam CM, Left historians only discuss kings who were overthrown by Mughal emperors.

Sarma claimed that Leftist historians omit the heroics of individuals like Guru Gobind Singh, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Durga Das Rathore, and Lachit Borphukan when writing history. He gave examples of these leaders who successfully led campaigns against Mughal armies.

The country's youth should be educated about its monarchs and emperors who resisted the Mughals, according to Sarma, by rewriting history.

"We ought to encourage history students to rewrite it. This would further inspire our young people to contribute to the development of our country, he said.

When speaking about the language, the Assam CM stated that it cannot be viewed as a community's only identity and that it also cannot serve as a symbol of culture. Our culture's most important characteristic is our faith.

Additionally, he said that Assamese people have lost their majority status in lower Assam due to the Leftists' constant disputes about language.

The Chief Minister urged the young to concentrate on skill advancement, business, and farming while highlighting the necessity of economic self-reliance.

"If we can't grow economically, we won't be able to become Atmanirbhar. Our Prime Minister has also given this a lot of attention," he claimed.
