GUWAHATI: The Assam government is celebrating 'A Day for Development' on Thursday and the Chief Minister is going to inaugurate several projects across the Kamrup Metropolitan distinct on the day.
The first and most important of the projects is the creation of the new Rajbhawan or the residence and office of the Governor of Assam. The new project will incur a cost of Rs 41. 32 Cr and will bring the state guest house closer to the Rajbhawan decreasing the traffic load by reducing VIP movement in the city.
Speaking on the occasion from Kharghuli, Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that the new Rajbhawan project will be created by the public works department of the state of Assam. The necessary land acquisition and the legal matters related to the project have already been handled and work will soon begin on the project. He added that the new project has been created in consultation with the Governor, Professor Jagdish Mukhi. It will be completed by the government within a timeline of a few months and will be one of the most picturesque locations in the country.
The Governor was also present for the occasion and he expressed his happiness about being able to be a part of the occasion and mentioned it to be an important day for all the people working there. He mentioned how the chief minister came to him with the idea and inspite of his doubts regarding the matter, the CM managed to complete the necessary formalities in time.
Apart from that the CM will also do the Bhomi Poojan for the New Police Reserve in Panbazar, the new DC office of the Kamrup Metropolitan in Rupnagar, an auditorium with a capacity of 5000 people and Guwahati Police Commissionerate in Khanapara, along with that the consolidated Assam Secretariat in Betkuchi. He will also lay foundation stones for a new auditorium in the Panjabari region of the state.
The Auditorium project in Khanapara will rank among the biggest halls of the country while the new Rajbhawan overlooking the Brahmaputra will be the most picturesque building in the country.
