CM Vigilance cell arrests two police officers of Gauripur police station

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister's Vigilance & Anti-corruption Cell has reportedly nabbed two police officers posted at Gauripur police station of Dhubri district on Wednesday evening.

Vigilance sleuths arrested Satyajit Borthakur, officer-in-charge of Gauripur police station and Abu Kalam Azad, assistant sub-inspector of the same police station in Assam's Dhubri district.

As per preliminary reports, the police officials have been apprehended on the basis of complaints lodged by a number of persons before the Chief Minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell.

Cracking a whip against the officers, a covert team of Chief Minister's Vigilance & Anti-corruption Cell from Guwahati launched an operation and caught the two police officers red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant.

It is to be mentioned that the Vigilance and Anti-corruption sleuths nabbed the money from the possession of the accused police officers.

"Further investigation is on," police sources informed.
