CM's gift to mediapersons distributed in Kokrajhar and Chirang

As part of the Chief Minister’s special initiative for New Year, 2021 to government-recognized media persons of Assam

KOKRAJHAR: As part of the Chief Minister's special initiative for New Year, 2021 to government-recognized media persons of Assam, gift items to the Kokrajhar media fraternity were distributed at a function held at the conference hall of Kokrajhar Press Club on Monday.

The gift items was ceremonially distributed by Secretary, BTC, Bhabani Prasad Sharma in presence of Deputy Secretary, BTC, Anitya Brahma, Council Head of the Department (CHD), I&PR, BTC, Ansuma Mahilary and DIPRO, Kokrajhar, Tridip Nandan Bora. The government-recognized media persons of Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon subdivisions received the gift items.

Speaking on the occasion, BTC Secretary Bhabani Prasad Sharma said that the Chief Minister had taken this initiative to recognize the services rendered by media persons in different fields, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the media persons worked relentlessly while risking their lives during the coronavirus pandemic as front line warriors and this should be given due recognition. He thanked Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for taking up this inspirational initiative for media persons.

Deputy Secretary Anitya Brahma praised the media persons who used to highlight various grievances of the public, besides focusing on the government's welfare and development projects. He said that the media persons highlighted every COVID-19 update in a continuous manner and collected data despite the fact that their life was at risk.

The media persons from Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon thanked Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his noble and goodwill gesture to media persons.

Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chirang district, Karmadev Brahma on Monday ceremonially handed over the gift items given by the Chief Minister to the government-recognized media persons of Chirang district in the conference hall of the Circuit House. These gift items were distributed among total eight media persons who had government-recognized media cards. Various journalist welfare schemes implemented by the State Government were also discussed in the programme.
