DOOMDOOMA: “The college Teachers of the State will face stiff competition in coming days as the proposed new Education policy lays great stress on quality education. As a consequence the teachers will have to update themselves academically so as to impart quality education to the students. At the same time teachers must teach them about value education.” This was stated by Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice-chancellor, Gauhati University (GU) while addressing the Freshman social of the Doomdooma college as chief guest on Saturday.
The Director of UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), GU Dr Jogendra Kalita delivered a lecture on the topic “Teaching, Learning and Research in the 21st century” while TV anchor and Advocate Deepak Sharma enthralled the audience with his motivational speech. In the beginning, Principal Dr Prakash Jyoti Borthakur welcomed the guests. The meeting was also addressed by former Principal of the college Dr Prafulla Medhi, president, governing body of the college Ramesh Goswami, president, Doomdooma college students union (DCSU) Jatan Tanti. The students who performed well in the sixth semester in Arts, Science and Commerce streams were felicitated in the meeting. Vice-cellor Dr Mridul Hazarika also inaugurated the renovated auditorium ‘Kallol’ in the college. Earlier Principal Dr P. J. Barthakur hoisted the flag of the college followed by ‘Smriti tarpan’ by Secretary, DCSU, Rajib Tanti.
