KOKRAJHAR: In a heart rending message for the people of Kokrajhar and Rongjuli of Goalpara, Dr. Amal Mashahary, HDMO, District Surveillance Officer (DSO) and District Immunity Officer of RN Brahma Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar who was also the Commander of COVID-19 warriors of Kokrajhar passed away on Monday at12 noon at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital after battling with COVID-19 infection. He was taken to GMCH almost two weeks ago after he was tested COVID-19 positive at Kokrajhar and had been put under ICU. He was 53 years old. He is survived by his wife- Debasuki Brahma and a son studying in class-V.

Late Mashahary hailed from Sarapara, Rongjuli of Goalpara district. Brought up in a poor family, Mashahary started his primary education in the village and passed the matriculation examination sitting in 1st division in Assamese medium from Rongjuli Higher Secondary School and passed the HS (Sc) from B. Barooah College, Guwahati. Later, he passed the MBBS from Gauhati Medical College and joined the service at RN Brahma Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar in 1997. He was very popular and loved by all both in Kokrajhar and Rongjuli. He was one of the most dedicated and well known doctors of RN Brahma Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar.

Many doctors, nurses, staff, leaders of various organizations, individuals including former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma expressed deep shock over his demise and prayed for his eternal peace.
