Community namaz in Bongaigaon cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic

BONGAIGAON: "Bongaigaon Muslim Society has decided not to arrange Eid-ul-Fitre community namaz this time at Bongaigaon Idgah. This decision was taken by the Idgah committee as a precautionary measure for COVID-19 pandemic," said Nur Muhammad, president of Bongaigaon Muslim Society, on Tuesday. He said that whether the administration permitted or not, the community namaz had been cancelled for this year. This time-effective decision of Bongaigaon Muslim Society has been appreciated by the public of Bongaigaon.

On the other hand, Rezaul Karim Sarkar, president of All Minorities Students' Union, appealed to people to celebrate this Eid from home. He said, "If we survive, we will get many more Eids to celebrate. But this time we should remain at home, celebrate with family only with the things what we have in our home. We should not go to market unnecessarily for Eid shopping. Because when we go for shopping, we purchase corona virus also," he said. He also appealed to the government to take strict action to maintain the lockdown and to prevent Eid shopping crowd from markets. In the same way, Tison Hussein, general secretary of All Bodoland Minorities Students' Union, also appealed to people to celebrate this Eid from home and to stay safe.
