Gracing the event as its chief guest, Dr. Saikia expressed concern over the steep rise in cases of cancer in the State and stressed the need of generating more awareness about the deadly disease among the people. Underscoring the need of mental strength for a cancer patient, he added that given the role mental strength played in the overall treatment of the disease, the patients must work towards increasing the same.
Expressing his gratitude for receiving the award, former Professor of the Pathology Department of Assam Medical College and Hospitals, Dr. Gogoi, said that he was feeling very proud to have been bestowed upon with the honor. Saikia, who stays in Mumbai, in his speech, expressed similar concerns over the increasing rate of the disease and considered individual carelessness and mistakes to be the cause behind it.
