PATHSALA: Plying of overloaded vehicles on NH-31, including rural roads, is posing a serious threat to commuters. Bijan Bayan, assistant secretary of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), expressed deep concern over the issue and demanded action from the authority concerned. He said, "Plying of overloaded vehicles on the national highway is posing serious threat to people's lives as frequent accidents take place. Moreover, due to plying of overloaded vehicles, the road also gets damaged." He also slammed the authority concerned for not take strict measures to stop the plying of overloaded vehicles on the national highway. He also alleged that highly polluted vehicles emitting black smoke move around freely in the area without any restriction from the authority concerned.

Biswajit Ganguli, general secretary of the Pathsala Anchalik Students' Union, also alleged that there was no control over the plying of overloaded vehicles in the busy Pathsala town and surrounding areas. He demanded the authority concerned to take stringent measures in this regard or they would be compelled to launch agitation.
