Conflict Between Mosque Committee In Dhubri, 1 Killed, Many Injured

According to the police, the fight between two mosque-affiliated gangs took place in the Bilasipara neighbourhood of the Dhubri district on December 30, 2022.

DHUBRI: In connection with the violent altercation at the mosque in Assam's Dhubri district's Bilasipara neighbourhood, police have detained two suspects. Aparna N., the district SP for Dhubri, provided information on this. Two people have been detained in this matter, she stated.

According to the police, a fight between two mosque-affiliated gangs took place in the Bilasipara neighbourhood of the Dhubri district on December 30, 2022, leaving one person dead and numerous others hurt. Aparna N. Said, "In connection with the event, we have detained two people and filed two different complaints." She has promised to prosecute the accused harshly. Other suspects connected to this incident, she claimed, would also be detained soon.

Several individuals were hurt in a brawl that reportedly broke out on Friday (December 30) inside a mosque in Bilasipara between two factions over the position of the management committee. The injured were received by the medical facility. Serious injury victim Haroon Rashid passed away on Monday while receiving treatment at GMCH in Guwahati (January 02). On Tuesday, January 3, enraged individuals chanted slogans in response.

When they arrived, the police calmed things down and promised to take tough action against the offenders. According to the information, there was a violent altercation between the two sides over the position of the mosque management committee. In this altercation, one person passed away after suffering significant injuries. A total of 20 individuals from two groups were hurt in the incident. On Tuesday, the deceased's body was delivered to his home (January 03).
