GAURISAGAR: The activists of Amguri Congress assembled at Gaurisagar Tiniali in Sivasagar on Monday to protest against the extinction of the historic No. 103 Amguri LAC. The activists shouted slogans demanding to stop the Amguri LAC delimitation. The activists formed human chain and also displayed placards. In 1951, freedom fighter Robin Kakoty was elected to the Assam Assembly as first MLA from this constituency. Later, Khagen Borbaruah, Puspadhar Chaliha, Anjan Dutta and Prodip Hazarika represented this constituency.

Addressing the protesters, Amguri Congress leader Angkita Dutta said that by no any means the delimitation of the constituency would be allowed. She also threatened a massive protest. During the Congress rule in 2005, the process of delimitation of constituencies of Assam had started. At that time, the AGP Amguri constituency committee had strongly protested and opposed the move.
