Congress and AGP members join Bharatiya Janata Party in Jorhat

JORHAT: One hundred and twenty persons, including Congress and AGP party members and district-level leaders of Jorhat district, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a ceremony held to observe the 42nd foundation day of the ruling party at the Muktijujaru Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Jorhat district BJP unit president Hemanta Kalita, who presided over the function, welcomed the new members stating that the work done by the BJP-led government for the benefit of all sections of the citizens was attracting more and more people towards the party. He hoped the new members, who included 72 from the Congress and 18 from AGP, would contribute to the party's growth and serve the people.

In the same function, five senior BJP members of the district who have been dedicatedly working for the party since the past several decades were felicitated. They are Rabi Sarmah, Someshwar Gogoi (both from Titabar), Manoj Choudhury (Mariani), Manorama Saikia and Jadumoni Dutta (both from Jorhat).
