Congress Arranges Political Affairs Committee for Assam, Assigns New Officials to the Party

Apart from 51 secretaries and 15 joint secretaries, the Congress has also designated 16 new vice presidents and 32 general secretaries in its Assam unit.

NEW DELHI: The Indian National Congress has released its committees pertaining to political affairs for Assam in Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) as well as for Madhya Pradesh and appointed new office-bearers to the party units in the two states.

Apart from 51 secretaries and 15 joint secretaries, the Congress has also designated 16 new vice presidents and 32 general secretaries in its Assam unit. The party has also appointed 29 fresh district presidents in the northeastern state of Assam.

The Congress has unveiled the names of the political affairs committee members of its Assam unit some of which are inclusive of state party in-charge Jitendra Singh, Gaurav Gogoi, Bhupen Kumar Borah, Pradyut Bordoloi, Debabrata Saikia, and Nandita Das. The party also nominated Laxmi Burman the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress' new president, prior to the February 16 Assembly polls in the northeastern state.

The 21 members who will be a part of the political affairs committee for Madhya Pradesh include state Congress chief Kamal Nath and former CM Digvijaya Singh, Kanti Lal Bhuria, Govind Singh, Arun Yadav, Suresh Pachouri, Ajay Singh, Nakul Nath, Vivek Tankha, Jitu Patwari, Mahender Joshi, and Shoba Ozha.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the suggestions for the appointment of vice presidents, general secretaries, and district presidents in the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Indian National Congress.

Abhay Dubey, Archana Jaiswal, Shobha Ozha, Ajay Chordia, and Noori Khand are amidst the 50 new vice-presidents selected in the Madhya Pradesh Congress along with the appointment of 105 new general secretaries. The party has also assigned 64 district presidents across the state.
