Congress In Assam Holds Protest Against Detention Of AICC Leader Priyanka Gandhi

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee held a protest demonstration in different district of the state including in Jorhat, Darrang, Dhemaji, Kamrup and in Nagaon.

Guwahati: Protesting against the detention of AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) held a series  demonstration in several parts of the state.

The leaders, workers and activist of the APCC protested and also chanted slogans against the BJP government.

The protest today also held different district of the state including in Jorhat, Darrang, Dhemaji, Kamrup and in Nagaon.

On Sunday night, a violent clash erupted between a group of protesting farmers and Union Minister Ajay Misra's son Ashish Misra's convoy leaving behind 8 people including 4 farmers dead. Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP police on her way to the violence-hit area.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a video had surfaced on social media showing an SUV running over some protesting farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday night, a violent clash erupted between a group of protesting farmers and Union Minister Ajay Misra's son Ashish Misra's convoy leaving behind 8 people including 4 farmers dead. Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP police on her way to the violence-hit area.

The Congress leader heavily criticised and demanded PM Modi arrest Union Minister Misra's son. She said that the farmers fought for the freedom of the country, but today they are fighting for their rights. " Farmers' sons are in the Defence Forces.

Earlier the Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, his son and other were booked after an FIR was filed against them accusing them for murder. They however, denied that were not present on spot during the incident.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the incident on Sunday.

Lakhimpur Kheri superintendent of police (SP) Vijay Dhull informed that an FIR was filed under IPC section 302 for murder, 120-B for criminal conspiracy, and 147 for rioting at Tikunia police station.
