TINSUKIA: With an aim to woo tea garden voters and as a confidence building exercise, the Assam Congress leaders launched mass campaigning in tea garden belts under the much-promised mission ‘Bagane Bagane Congress’ at Rupai Tea Estate under Doomdooma LAC in Tinsukia district on Sunday. Led by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah, more than 1,000 tea plantation workers and party workers joined the rally braving inclement weather conditions.

Among those who participated in the programme were secretary of All India Congress Committee and Parliamentary Secretary to the Chhattisgarh Government, Vikas Upadhyay, APCC executive president Rana Goswami, former Union Minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar and former Union Minister Rani Narah, along with other leaders. Addressing the gathering, Borah said he had come to take care of the people of tea gardens and lambasted the ‘anti-people’ policies of the Central and State governments. He also spoke about the deprivation meted out to garden workers by the present BJP-led State Government.
