GUWAHATI: Just ahead of the Guwahati Municipality Election, Congress leader and daughter of Robin Bordoloi, Ashima Bordoloi resigned from the party on Saturday.
Addressing the media after resigning from the party, Bordoloi said, "The Congress party has used the title 'Bordoloi' but they have not given the actual respect."
She further claimed that the party has not even helped her during the assembly election. She also expressed dissatisfaction over the work of the party.
When asked if she has any plan to join BJP or any other party, Bordoloi said that she has not yet decided which party she will join.
Congress failed to identify the people who worked for the party. They used the title of my father but have not provided any facility, she added.
Earlier, Ashima Bordoloi filed her nomination for the Assam assembly elections 2021 from the Guwahati East constituency.
Ashima Bordoloi is the daughter of 2-time MLA and former Assan minister Captain Robin Bordoloi. She is the granddaughter of Bharat RatnaLokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, the first Chief Minister of undivided Assam.
She is 48 years old and is a permanent resident of Dr B.K. Kakati Road, 105-Gopinath Bhawan, Guwahati.
She is married to Dr Prakritish Bora, a well-known paediatrician of Guwahati.
Notably, Ashima Bordoloi was a former Councillor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).
