TANGLA: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya assured the people that the Congress-led Grand Alliance would drive away misery and bring smile and happiness in the lives of the people of State.
Addressing a massive crowd in an election campaign meet for Paneri Bodoland People's Front (BPF) candidate Karuna Kanta Swargiary at Dimakuchi stadium in Udalguri district on Sunday, he lambasted the saffron party for giving false promises to the people of Assam. He asserted that the saffron party had assured the Adivasi community of granting ST status within six months of being voted to power but till date the issue was pending. He urged the people to vote for the Congress-led Grand Alliance and be stakeholders of peace, prosperity and development.
"The Congress-led Grand Alliance has already swept the polls in Upper Assam constituencies as media reports have claimed and we are confident that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be ousted by the people in the second and third phases of the polls," he said.
BPF president Hagrama Mohilary came down heavily on the saffron party and asserted that BPF would be part of the Congress-led government in Dispur. "The Congress-led alliance wants a unified platform where every community will march ahead and inclusive growth and development will take place in Assam," he added.
