GUWAHATI: As the state of Assam and West Bengal are marching ahead to the end days for the poll dates, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the ongoing protests against the three farms laws won't have any bearing on the poll-bound states.

Further, the minister taking a jibe at the Congress-led maha-gathbandhan or grand-alliance in the state, the minister said that it to be as 'Maha-Thugbandhan'.

It is to be mentioned that Union Minister Tomar, who is also the central minister in charge of Assam elections for the BJP stated that now the farmers are supporting the bill as they understand that this will benefit them to a huge extent in the near future.

Earlier, the Congress has formed an alliance with AIUDF, BPF, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML), Anchalik Gana Morcha (AGM), RJD and Jimochayan (Deori) Peoples Party (JPP) for the state elections.

"This time too, the popularity of PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is on the peak. In the last five years, there has been transparency in governance. There has been increasing in ease of business. Assam has received development. The public has faith in BJP," Tomar added.

Hitting back at former Congress leader and prime minister Manmohan Singh, Tomar said that Manmohan Singh was a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam and could have done a lot but they didn't, however, PM Narendra Modi has focussed on Assam.

Further not leaving West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee behind, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that not only Assam, but BJP would also win in Bengal as well.

"There is an election in West Bengal. The country is watching. The way Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seems confused, it sends out a message. People will vote for the BJP," he said.

It is to be mentioned that today NEDA convenor and Assam state Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be filing his nomination papers as a candidate from the Jalukbari constituency at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Guwahati.
