Constitution Day observed in Lakhimpur district

Along with the rest of the nation, Constitution Day was observed in Lakhimpur district to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the nation, Constitution Day was observed in Lakhimpur district on Saturday to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26 in 1949, the Constitution of India was adopted and it came into effect on January 26 in 1950. As a result, November 26 is observed to mark the beginning of a new era in order to recognise the contribution of the Constitution's framers and to aggravate the people regarding the prominent values.

In Lakhimpur district, the event was observed in all the offices of the government departments along with the educational institutions. In the programme, organized in the Deputy Commissioner's Office on the occasion, Deputy commissioner Sumit Sattawan explained the significance of the event. On the other hand, ADC Sanjib Doloi administered the reading of the preamble of the Constitution to reaffirm commitment to upholding its ideology.

The event was observed in Lakhimpur Commerce College with calls to safeguard the rights of people enshrined in it. A meeting was organized for that occasion by the Political Science department and NSS unit of the college in association Nehru Yuva Kendra-North Lakhimpur. The objective of the meeting was explained by Sujata Bhowmik, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra-North Lakhimpur.

The welcome address of the meeting was delivered by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, the Principal of the college. Ajit Nath, advocate, North Lakhimpur Bar Association attended the meeting as the appointed speaker. A speech was also delivered on Intensive Volunteer Enrollment Programme (IVEP) by Rupam Jyoti Chetia of Nehru Yuva Kendra, North Lakhimpur.
