LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district administration organized a crucial meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B in the presence of all the ADCs, SDO (Civil) of Dhakuakhana, all Circle Officers, Assistant Commissioners of North Lakhimpur subdivision, heads of the departments of Agriculture, Veterinary and Fishery, DDS of FCA and CA, Lakhimpur in the conference hall of the DC office with regard to ensuring the continuation of essential services in the district during the lockdown period.
In the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner and in-charge of District Disaster Management Agency, SDO (Civil) of Dhakuakhana and all the Circle Officers (CO) were designated as incident commanders regarding the smooth management of administrational activities during the lockdown period while fighting against COVID-19 pandemic. All the heads of the departments were directed to report to the incident commander as and when required. In the same meeting, the COs as incident commanders were empowered to issue passes for the contractual labourers working in the emergency service sectors up to three persons. In case of more than three persons, ADC Md Javed Arman will issue the passes after clearly verifying the requisite norms.
The meeting has taken several decisions and steps with regard to providing essential services to the citizens of the district and other needy people. A total of 41 fish sellers are authorized by the District Fishery Development Officer and district administration for selling fish within North Lakhimpur town area. Transportation of table fish by the whole-sellers and hatchery owners has also been permitted.
Total 84 vendors are authorized for purchasing of farmers’ products like vegetables and sale in different notified areas under the district in connection with the lockdown period. Total 36 fertilizer and seed shops have been instructed to remain open from 8 am to 2 pm.
Further, the district administration has notified a total of 100 hotels, dharamsalas and other institutions as quarantine centres. Similarly, the meeting has fixed regulations with regard to the distribution of GR items to the daily wage earners and rickshaw pullers of municipal areas for seven days under North Lakhimpur subdivision. The number of such beneficiaries is 38,953 while the quantity of items being distributed among them for seven days are- rice 1432.81 qtl, dal 292.48qtl, mustard oil 8181.25 litres and salt 81.81qtls. Similarly, GR items have been initially distributed among 3,726 people for 14 days under the containment area and 2,736 wage earners and rickshaw pullers of municipal areas for seven days under Dhakuakhana subdivision.
In addition to this meeting, another meeting was also held under the chairmanship of the DC in the presence of ADC Utpal Borah and all the tea garden managers of the district. As per decision taken in the meeting, the district administration accorded permission to operate the tea industries, including plantation from April 12, with a maximum of 50 per cent workers/employees on rooster basis subject to maintenance of social distance, hygiene practices and mandatory wearing of masks and hand gloves by the workers.
