DHUBRI: Dhubri district administration, in collaboration with Dhubri district health and Dhubri Lions Club, organized serology test free of cost at Dhubri Lions Club Service Centre on Wednesday. The reason for this testing was that after the outbreak of COVID-19, it has been suspected some people may have coronavirus in their bodies but due to their strong immunity, they do not show symptoms, said a physician. According to experts, it needs to be checked whether antibodies have developed in people's bodies against COVID-19.
An expert from the State Antibody (serology) testing team which arrived from Guwahati said that an antibody test shows whether one was affected by the virus at some point of time in the past and recovered but it could have gone or was still in the body, which could be contagious. "The test looks for one or both kinds of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19," he said.
Dhubri Additional Deputy Commissioner Sarfraz Haque monitored the testing programme and got himself tested while president and secretary of Dhubri Lions Club, Suresh Harlalka and Sanjay Sethia too got tested. Altogether blood samples of 115 persons were collected which would be tested in the Guwahati lab and reports would be mailed or sent via WhatsApp to each of them. Testing of serology was held at the initiative of AASHA-Assessment of Anti SARS COV 2 among the people of Assam.
