Corpus fund for welfare of scribes in Jorhat district

JORHAT: The Journalist Welfare Association (Sangbadik Kalyan Nidhi) under the Jorhat unit of Assam Journalists' Union, in a meeting held at Nimati on Saturday resolved to set up a Rs 10 lakh corpus fund for the welfare of journalists in Jorhat district. Navajyoti Baruah, secretary of the Sangbadik Kalyan Nidhi, said that the interest amount from the corpus fund would be given to distressed journalists and their families, which would also include former journalists. Among those who attended the meeting today were Lalit Bora, president of the committee, Diganta Burahgohain, Devajit Baruah and others.
