SILCHAR: Karimganj police arrested a Delhi-based illegal trader who was allegedly running a factory producing counterfeit shampoo at a rented house near Mubarakpur area of the town.
Aslam Khan (44) was found refilling bottles with counterfeit products mimicking renowned brands like Hindustan Unilever and Procter and Gambler. He used to distribute these to unsuspecting consumers. Karimganj police got information that a person from Delhi residing near JJ Pump in Mubarakpur was allegedly running an underground shampoo production unit. Following a thorough search by the Technical Support Inspector at Khan’s rented house, 960 bottles of counterfeit hair shampoo were recovered, a statement from the police said.
Additionally, three drums containing liquid, packets of powder and a substantial quantity of empty bottles from various renowned hair shampoo brands were seized.
