COVID-19 cases cross 2,500 mark in Lakhimpur district

A total of 67 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Lakhimpur on Saturday. Out of them, three people were detected

LAKHIMPUR: A total of 67 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Lakhimpur on Saturday. Out of them, three people were detected positive as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result while remaining 64 people were found positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted at various places under the district.

Notably, 29 employees of a nursing home named Avanish Hospital, located in North Lakhimpur town, were found positive on the day. Three patients of the nursing home were also detected positive. The proprietor of the nursing home, Dr. Arup Dutta was found positive on Friday and hence RAT was conducted in the nursing home on Saturday.

In addition to them, three police personnel were also found positive at Harmoti Police Station while the remaining 32 people were reported from various places of the district.

With these 67 newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases in the district has spiked to 2,556. Of them, 1,895 patients have been discharged while 661 are active cases.
