BARPETA: COVID-19 has claimed three lives in Barpeta district. Dr Safur Ali (67), retired professor, Madhya Kamrup College and inhabitant of Majdia under Sarthebari revenue circle of Sarukshetry in Barpeta district, died on Wednesday night at GMCH.

Dr Safur Ali has breathing problem and on Wednesday he was admitted in a private hospital in Guwahati. When he tested COVID-19 positive, he was immediately shifted to GMCH at night. There he breathed his last.

Mirja Begum (50) of Bhakuwatepa under Sarthebari revenue circle, Barpeta was suffering from kidney ailment. She was admitted at GMCH on July 31. She tested COVID-19 positive and she passed away on Thursday in GMCH. The MLA of Sarukshetry, Jakir Hussain Sikdar and Rashmirekha Devi, Circle Officer of Sarthebari revenue circle, arranged PPE kits for her janaja.

Manoj Nath (30), son of Kanak Nath of Sarbhog, died at Barpeta Civil Hospital, Kalgachiya. Two days earlier he was detected COVID-19 positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). He was a Grade IV worker of Sarbhog Municipality.
