COVID-19 positive cases increasing in Kokrajhar and Chirang district

As the second wave of COVID-19 surge is sweeping across the country, the positive cases are increasing in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.

KOKRAJHAR/BONGAIGAON: As the second wave of COVID-19 surge is sweeping across the country, the positive cases are increasing in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. Kokrajhar district had detected 111 positive cases till Wednesday evening while Chirang district had so far detected 114 positive cases.

Sources said that with 15 new positive cases detected in Chirang on Thursday, the total positive cases in Chirang district had risen to 114 while active cases in the district remained 73. Sources also said that till Wednesday, the district had vaccinated 21,890 persons in the district so far with 15,354 in first dose and 6,536 in second dose. As per official sources, the district has 2,330 available doses of Covishield and 880 doses of Covaxin. Meanwhile, there is no order for closure of primary or pre-primary schools in the district.

In Kokrajhar, the passengers coming from various parts of the country are being screened for COVID-19. The screening is also reported in Srirampur inter-state border with West Bengal. Precautionary measures are being taken by the district administration to contain the spread of virus by imposing restriction after 6 pm and checking on violators of COVID protocol.
