COVID tally reaches 1,097 including 13 deaths in Biswanath district

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The COVID-19 tally reached 1,097 on Sunday, including 13 COVID-related deaths, despite preventive measures being taken on a war footing by the district administration in Biswanath district.

COVID positive cases have been increasing day by day at Gamini Gaon Panchayat area under Gohpur subdivision covering 12 villages. Nearly 60 cases were detected in the area and three places were found to be highly sensitive, namely Gameri Bazaar area, Ram Mandir area and near Gameri MV School. Local people alleged that most of the emerging cases were due to wedding ceremonies which had led to mass spreading of the virus at Gamiri.

In order to contain the deadly disease, Block Development Officer of Chaiduar Development Block, Executive Magistrate, Gohpur subdivision, Circle Officer of Helem Revenue Circle and Superintendent of Food and Civil Supply visited the area recently. As a preventive measure, the administration declared the whole area as containment zone with the boundaries as such-Eastside-Tulshi Borah (Gadhariabasti ward no. 1), Westside-Ferryghat (Puranaburoi, ward no. 6), Northside-Bhojraj Bhandari's house (Dighalipather ward no. 1), Southside- From Gameri centre (Lagan Chetry shop) and from Gameri MV School to Bhola centre (Nepalipather).
