TEZPUR: The aim of the 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign is to ensure that no person is left to be vaccinated for COVID-19 during the vaccination exercise in the district, especially the hesitant and resistant population. This was stated by Sonitpur Deputy commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das in a press conference on Monday in the presence of Secretary to the Government of Assam and State Observer, Rituraj Bora, Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Ghanawat, ADCs Dyotiva Bora, Pankaj Nagbangshi, Jt Dir Health Services Dr J Ahmed and other senior officials of the health department.

Speaking to the media, Deputy commissioner Das said the 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign will continue till December 5. "We had already launched the door-to-door campaign and it is receiving a good response. We will achieve our target soon," he said. 'Har Ghar Dastak' is a campaign to carry out house-to-house COVID-19 vaccination of the people, who are yet to take a dose and those whose second shot is overdue. The aim is to inoculate those who are due for the second dose and persuade those who are hesitant to take the shot. A verifying team consisting of administrative and medical personnel will make lists of left-out and reluctant persons for vaccination. They will visit the polling booth areas to ensure 100 per cent COVID vaccination. The DC also added that the district administration had adopted various measures, including counselling, in order to eliminate vaccine hesitancy among the people. The DC added that till today, a total of 7,95,142 beneficiaries had received their first dose and 5,64,422 got their second dose of the vaccine.
