BONGAIGAON: The CPI (M) Bongaigaon district committee staged protest in Bongaigaon on Monday against arrest of several leftist leaders and intellectuals like Sitaram Yechury, Yogendra Yadav and Jayanti Ghosh.

Parimal Chakraborty, Bongaigaon district president of CPI (M), said that the BJP government was threatening constitutional power. "This government brought the Citizenship (Amendment) Act which is against the Constitution. Hence we stand against this government and in support of the anti-CAA agitation. We also demand that compensation be paid to poor people who have been affected by the lockdown," he said.
