Boko: The case of retired honorary Lieutenant of the Indian Army, Md. Sanaullah took a U-turn as all the three witnesses filed a case against Sub-Inspector Chandramal Das of the Assam Police border branch stating that they came to know about their involvement through media and WhatsApp.
They claimed that they did not record their statements in the case. On the other hand, the enquiry officer of the case claimed that he never met Sanaullah and the person he enquired was not him but somebody else.
Family members of Sanaullah along with the witnesses in the case have blamed the Assam Police Border Organization for allegedly conspiring against genuine Indian citizens in the name of detecting D-voters.
Md. Kuran Ali, son of Maijuddin of village Kolohikash, filed a case against Chandramal Das of the Border Police stating that he had never informed about this case. His statement about retired Army officer Sanaullah attached with the case as a witness was false and his signature was also fake as he had never given any such statement nor signed as a witness. He also demanded in his First Information Report (FIR) to give punishment to Sub-Inspector Chandramal Das for his criminal conspiracy against the retired Army officer. The same story was repeated in case of the other two witnesses, Md. Suwahan Ali and Ajmal Ali from Koloikash village under Chaygaon revenue circle. Both of them in separate FIRs at Boko Police Station stated that though their names were reflected in the case no. 1978/16/FT, they had never given any statement or signed such statement. There signatures were also false and so they filed case against Chandramal Das, in-charge of the case of Border Police Branch.
“In the Foreigners Tribunal, we have already contended that the case against him is fabricated and holds no truth as at the time when the police claimed to have taken his statement he was deployed in counter-insurgency operation far away in Manipur,” said Sanaullah’s advocate Aman Wadud.
“He is falsely implicated in the case and he is not a foreigner. The enquiry is only being made on the basis of names and other details in the voter list which are not fully reliable as there are many errors. The thumb impression on the statement taken by the police is of a different person with the same name. We have approached the High Court,” said Mohammad Azmal Haque, retired Army officer and family member.
Boko Police Station officer-in-charge Jogendra Barman said that he would personally handle the case and has already started investigation in the matter.
