CSIR-NEIST Jorhat organized 26th Dr J N Baruah Memorial Lecture

TEZPUR: CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat organized the 26th Dr. J N Baruah Memorial Lecture in association with Dr J N Baruah Memorial Trust and Assam Science Society Jorhat Branch recently. In memory of the great scientist of this region every year the trust has been organizing lecture by an eminent personality but due to current pandemic situation of COVID-19, the trust has decided to hold it virtually. This year it has been delivered by Dr Sanjani K Dwivedi, Director, Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur, Assam on the topic 'Challenges Before Budding Scientists'. Dr G Narahari Sastry, Director of CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat on his welcome address expressed that Late Dr J N Baruah has contributed a lot for the growth & development of the institute and also immensely involved in other scientific activities. Dr R C Boruah, President of Assam Science Society, Jorhat Branch and Dr J N Baruah Memorial Trust has briefed about achievements of Dr J N Baruah and about the Trust.

Talking about the challenges before budding scientist, Dr Sanjai K Dwivedi said that in this era knowledge power is crucial which can only make India super power. In the context of Indian Scientific Research, Dr Dwivedi stated that even though a large numbers of institutes like IITs are established but we are yet to reach in the level of USA or China in terms of patenting and publications. He urged that KSA model i.e. Knowledge, Skill and Attitude are very important for the young generation, where scientist role is to identify the problem, target setting and work plan, experimentation, validation, interpretation and validation, stated a press release.
