Assam: Cultural Training Begins in Biswanath Chariali Regional Namghar

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A summer training programme on Vaishnavite saint Sankardev-composed music commenced on Sunday under the initiative of Biswanath district branch of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha in the premises of Biswanath Chariali Regional Namghar. The programme began with Naam Prasanga in the morning followed by a plantation drive. Divisional Forest Officer, East Sonitpur Biswajit Das and eminent nature lover Kumud Baruah inaugurated the tree plantation programme. The flag was then hoisted by vice president Chakradhar Sonowal.

In the afternoon, the open session was inaugurated by Kushal Thakuria, general secretary of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha. The session was presided over by Pabitrapharan Borah, president of the culture wing of the Sangha.

The president of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha and the Chancellor of Srimanta Sankardeva University Bhabendranath Deka took part as the chief guest in the programme. The chief guest, in his speech, said that Shrimanta Shankardev is the father of the open stage and he wrote plays a hundred years before Shakespeare. Everyone has to make efforts to establish Srimanta Shankardev in the world court, he added.
