Darrang District Admin Announces To Close All Education Institutes From 16 To 19 June

Darrang: In the wake of heavy rainfall in the state, the Darrang District Administration, has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the district from June 16 to 19 June.

In a notification issued by Darrang DC, Pranab Kumar Sarma stated that the schools shall remain closed till Sunday until the situation slightly improves.

The District Disaster Management Authority of Assam has also ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the Dima Hasao District till June 18, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup (metro) district administration has announced that all educational institutions in the city will be closed on June 16 as a result of heavy showers which have lashed various parts of the city over the last few days.

"In view of the weather forecast issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding incessant rainfall in Kamrup Metropolitan District for tomorrow i.e 16/06/2022," an official notification said.

"All educational institutions, both government and private, are hereby advised to close tomorrow, with the exception of the conduct of examinations that have already been scheduled," it added.

Earlier on Tuesday, all the educational institutions were instructed to close down on June 15 in Guwahati. However, in view prevailing situation it has been extended.

Notably, several parts of the Guwahati witnessed waterlogging due to continuous heavy rainfall which started on Monday night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 13 predicted that the northeastern region will continue to receive heavy rainfall till June 17 and also issued a red alert for the state of Assam and Meghalaya.
