MANGALDAI: Six health workers of the Darrang District Health Department have sustained injuries as a sizeable portion of the concrete floor of the training hall of District Family Welfare Bureau (DFWB) suddenly collapsed on Thursday during a training session.
Talking to media, the trainee health workers said that the incident occurred at around 12:30 pm during lunch break when a sizeable portion of the floor on the south-east part suddenly collapsed creating a hole of around five feet deep and of twenty-five/thirty square feet area.
The chairs with the trainees on that floor portion also fell into the collapsed concrete causing injuries to six trainees. Luckily injuries of all the trainees are stated to be minor and after preliminary treatment in Mangaldai Civil Hospital they were released as informed by Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer, Darrang Dr Prasanta Goswami. He further stated that a total of thirty-two health workers including ANM, GNM, LHV and BEE have been undergoing a two-day refresher training programme on routine immunization programme since Thursday.
