Darrang Police arrests four people for murder

MANGALDAI: The ever prompt 'Team Darrang Police' in a significant achievement, that too, within 12 hours, has arrested four accused person including a housewife in connection with the gruesome killing of a woman at village Na-Mati under Daipam Police Out Post of Dalgaon Police Station. On Saturday morning, the dead body of an unidentified woman was found lying in a maize cultivation field which had created a sensation in the locality. Taking the killing of the unidentified woman seriously, Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan and other senior police officers immediately rushed to the spot and launched a vigorous investigation. Deputy Inspector General of Police of Central Western Range Brajenjit Singha also visited the spot on Saturday evening and supervised the investigation. The police achieved success in the immediate arrest of three persons namely Abdul Jabbar and his wife Abeda Khatun of village Kacharipara Jangal Gaon and Badshah Ali of village Chokabahipara. On the basis of the confessional statement of the arrested trio, the Police on Sunday arrested one Abdul Barek of village Paschim Chokabahi. All four persons have been booked in connection with Dalgaon Police Station case number 192/2021.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman has been identified as one Anjali Basumatary of Udalguri town. Though the motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained, it has been suspected that the unfortunate woman who was separated from her husband four years back, was lured by this gang of criminals and strangulating to death after outraging her modesty, the gang of criminals abandoned her dead body in the maize field. The police are looking for other absconding criminals involved in this killing
