DC Ashok Kumar Barman holds meeting over deplorable road condition in Jorhat

JORHAT: AASU Jorhat district unit, led by district unit president Sankalpa Gogoi, on Tuesday held discussions with Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman over the deplorable condition of the NH 715 (earlier NH 37) in the district. When contacted Barman he said that he had talks with the students' body representatives led by Jorhat unit AASU president Sankalpa Gogoi and the Jorhat based NHIDCL manager A Choudhury, who has newly joined.

Barman stating that the highway repair work that was started a month ago was slowed down due to incessant rains. He directed the authorities to resume work expeditiously as the weather had cleared up.

The DC said that he has asked the authorities to get the work done by the private firm which was awarded the contract for the work. After the meeting, the repair works of the highway which was to be made into a four lane as part of the ongoing project of the centre, were initiated.
