SILCHAR: Like in 2020, this year too, the Bhasha Shaheed Divas was observed with reverence and solemnity amidst the COVID-19 protocols.
Along with Silchar MP, Dr Rajdeep Roy, MLA, Dipayan Chakraborty, Cachar, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli visited Silchar Railway Station in the wee hours and paid homage to 11 martyrs followed by visits to Silchar Smashan Ghat at 8.30 AM and the Shahid Smriti Soudha at Gandhi Bagh at 2.30 PM.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the supreme sacrifices by the martyrs for the safeguard of Bengali language will remain fountainhead of inspiration for present and future generatons. "It is this spirit that shall inspire people in the fight against COVID-19," she added.
It may be mentioned that the Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha, Silchar felicitated the Deputy Commissioner with the Unnisher Padak on the ocassion.
