HAFLONG: Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed felicitated meritorious students who recently passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by SEBA, bringing laurels to the district.
The top 10 students of the district along with five state topper students in individual subjects were felicitated by the DC, along with the Inspector of Schools, in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, District Information & Public Relations Officers, teachers, principals and parents. The programme was organized at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall.
Congratulating all the achievers present on the occasion, DC Nazreen Ahmed praised the students for their hard work and dedication for which they could bring glory to Dima Hasao, especially at a time when the district was going through tremendous hardships and gloom since last month due to the recent natural disaster.
She said, "It is a matter of great pride that our district has ranked second in Assam and this has indeed brought us all happiness amidst the recent incidents. My heartfelt congratulations to all the teachers and parents too."
Inspector of Schools Gayatri Naiding also spoke on the occasion and congratulated all the students present and added that their achievement would definitely inspire others in future too. Four out of five students who topped in individual subjects are from government schools and one student, Barshri Hakmaosa is from St. Xaviers High School of Diyungbra village.
Speaking highly about the teachers and the facilities provided to the students of government schools, one parent praised the infrastructure and improvement in the academic environment in government schools which led to good results this year, at par with the private schools in this district.
The students present were felicitated with tradition muflar 'risha' and handed over certificates of appreciation along with a token of gift from the Deputy Commissioner.
