Dead Body of a Young Student Recovered from Jonai

The youth was supposedly returning home after enjoying Raas celebrations

JONAI : In a shocking incident, the dead body of a youth was recovered from the Jonai region of the state on the night of Monday.

The body of a young male was recovered in a very disturbing condition from the Udaypur region of Jonai in the Dhemaji district of Assam. As per the primary investigations, Assam Police personnel have mentioned that the incident looks like a homicide but a proper investigation will reveal all the facts.

The deceased has been identified as one Kaling Mayang. He was a student of the Lisang Junior College located in Junai of Assam.

Some reports mention that the deceased was on his way home when the incident took place. He had gone to attend the Raas festival which is currently ongoing in several parts of the state of Assam. He was attacked on his return journey leading to his death in the location. The body was recovered in a very bloodied condition by the police and sent for proper post-mortem procedures.

Officials have reported that one person was detained in connection to the incident. The name of the detained person has been revealed to be Metin Patir. He was taken for questioning and further course of action on the matter is being initiated.

The number of dead bodies being recovered like this incident is on the rise in the state, especially in the capital city. In the last few days, two bodies were recovered in the Beltola region of the city within a gap of a few days. Another body of a man was recovered in a semi-decomposed state from the Rupnagar region a few days ago.

The National Crime Record Bureau also put Assam in the third position when it comes to murder rates in the country. According to the report, the state recorded a total of 1269 incidents in the past year.
