Death anniversary of Bhagat Singh observed in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district units of All India Democratic Students' Organization (AIDSO), All India Democratic Youths' Organization (AIDYO) and All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) observed the death anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh with a three-day long programme from March 21 to March 23.

The activists of the organizations exhibited different photographs of Bhagat Singh and placards of his sayings at various places under Lakhimpur district, including the public place located near the Deputy Commissioner's office on the three designated days. On Wednesday, the organization paid floral tribute to the portrait of the martyr in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in addition to Boginadi, Kakoi Rajgarh, Sukulibhoriya.

In connection, a symposium on his revolutionary life was organized at Uttar Lakhimpur Sahitya Xanha Bhawan. AIDSO Assam State Committee president Projjal Deb and AIDYO Assam State Committee general secretary Birinchi Pegu took part in the symposium as resource persons. The programme commenced with Junmoni Miri in the chair. In his lecture, Projjal Deb said that Bhagat Singh was a strong carrier of an ideology of non-compromising revolution. "He dreamt of freeing the people of India from the exploitation of British colonial rule. He made his supreme sacrifice cheerfully with the great expectation of his dream being realized. He paved a right way for the freedom of the masses from the exploitation of the corporates seen in capitalism," Projjal Deb added. On the other hand, Birinchi Pegu said that martyr Bhagat Singh set an example of the indestructible ideology of realizing freedom in the true sense.

A host of students presented patriotic songs in the programme. Later. the activists of the organizations took out a rally in North Lakhimpur town by shouting slogans to keep Bhagat Singh's ideology alive.
