Death anniversary of Hemanta Kumar Baruah observed in Tezpur

TEZPUR: The first Hemant Kumar Baruah Memorial Youth Award for contributions towards literature, culture and educational field respectively for the year 2022 was conferred on noted theatre activist, Gunakar Dev Goswami at an award function organized in connection with the first death anniversary of the noted Assamese litterateur, educator and cultural activist, Hemanta Kumar Baruah, by the Hemanta Kumar Baruah Memorial Trust at historic Baan Theatre. The programme was conducted by Pankaj Baruah, Publicity Secretary of Axom Xahitya Xabha.

Gunakar Deva Goswami, a noted theatre personality born in a culturally rich family, is the youngest son of Sattriya doyen and Padma Shri awardee Jatin Goswami and Kamala Goswami. Right from 12 years of age he had started doing various one-act and full-length plays. Goswami already wrote 15 plays and directed over 50 plays.
