DHUBRI: Debashish Saha, Principal of Sishu Pathsala Higher Secondary School, was honoured with the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Excellence Award in Delhi on Sunday. The award has been constituted to recognize outstanding individual achievements and distinguished services to the nation in the fields of business, education and social work by a front runner non-political organization, Citizen Integration Peace Institution (CITI), New Delhi.
The award was presented at a grand ceremonial function on Sunday held at India International Centre, New Delhi along with a symposium on ‘Life and Works of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’. Saha was honoured with a certificate of excellence and a memento. He is the second person from the north-eastern region to receive this prestigious award.
Debashish Saha was honoured with the State Award for Teacher by the Department of Education, Government of Assam in 2017 and the school was honoured by the Government of Assam as one of the ‘Best Performance Schools’ in 2018 for 100 per cent result in HS final exam (Science Stream) for three consecutive years - 2016, 2017 and 2018. During the last 11 years (from 2009 to 2019), the school achieved the rear feat of 100 per cent result a record nine times in the same examination under his able leadership.
