GAURISAGAR: Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah (HNS) College, one the premier higher education institute in Sivasagar district has been organizing Abhijt Mahanta–Nilutpal Gogoi memorial State level debating competition in every three years. The meritorious students of the college died in a tragic bus accident in Sivasagar Rajabari on November 11,1994. With a view to recall their fond memories, the college fraternity organizes a state level debating competition in every three years. This year the10th Abhijt Mahanta –Nilutpal Gogoi memorial State level debating competition was held on the topic, “The proposal for the delimitation of constituencies will safeguard the future of indigenous people of Assam”. Dr.Saurmarjyoti Mahanta, principal of Sibsagar Commerce College and president of Assam College Principal Council (ACPC) conducted it. In the competition Gitartha Borah and Hasan Sabrin Rahman of Sibsagar Commerce college bagged the best team award and got a trophy, a memento and ten thousand rupees as prize money.
