NEW DELHI: Days after arresting two girls including Devangana Kalita from Assam for their alleged involvement in anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) activities, Delhi police on Tuesday filled chargesheet against 12 people including Devangana at the Karkarduma Court in Delhi.
Sources informed that the Delhi Police has also mentioned Umar Khalid in the chargesheet, adding that "the chargesheet stated that all the accused were involved in the Jafrabad violence."
The police in its chargesheet accused Devangana as one of the conspirators in the Jafrabad violence.
"The police came to the conclusion after going to the whatsapp chat over the violence," said sources.
Meanwhile, Devangana got bail from the Tees Hazari Court in another case. It may be mentioned here that Devangana, an M Phil student, and Natasha Narwal, were arrested by the Delhi Police on June 24.
Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has also written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking release of the two students.
In a letter to Shah, Gogoi has said that Indian Constitution has given right to everybody to express or to agitate against the decision of the Government and both of them did nothing except exercising their fundamental right.
